The Michot Brothers "J'ai passé devant ta porte"

Les Freres Michot (The Michot Brothers) celebrated the release of their new cd "La Caroline" at Prejean's Restaurant in Lafayette Monday Sept 15, 2008. Though various members of the "Bal de Maison" band come and go these days, Tommy Michot, his brother Rick, and Rick's son Patrick are the mainstays of the Monday night performances at Prejean's.

This classic Cajun song ( "J'ai passe devant ta porte" ) tells a story well-known to lovers everywhere : how we feel after we've lost a love, and how those feelings are refreshed when we pass by our lover's home (and "pass in front of [her] door").

When you visit Acadiana (or if you live here), don't miss this band (The Michot Brothers, or, Les Freres Michot); they are the very best of our "Bal de Maison" ensembles - bands that play acoustically in the style of "house parties" of years past.

District Judge Rick Michot (fiddle) and Dr. (of marine biology) Tommy Michot (accordian) are its core members, and have included/invited both family members and others in the community sit in from time to time, including their sons, some of whom have gone on to be Grammy-nominated musicians ( Tommy's sons Andre and Louie of The Lost Bayou Ramblers ) after learning their craft with this seminal band. Rick's son Patrick now is a mainstay of their Monday night gig at Prejean's Restaurant in Lafayette.

Enjoy !
